City of Knoxville Mayoral Candidate
Bio: Madeline has recently resigned her position as Director of Community Development for the City of Knoxville to run for city mayor. In her former capacity as Community Development Director, she led a city department that focuses on issues such as affordable housing, neighborhood and commercial revitalization, blighted property mitigation, economic development, fair housing, homeless services, and disability services. Previously, she was executive director of Knoxville’s Promise – The Alliance for Youth, Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Foundation, and The University of Tennessee Community Partnership Center; and was an economic development planner with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Madeline served on Knox County Commission from 1990-1998 and is a candidate for Knoxville Mayor in 2011. She has a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from The University of Tennessee – Knoxville and a B.A. in Political Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
