;A Community Approach to Better Health
Fall 2010 Update
As you know, partners across Knox County are working right now toward a community approach to better health under the Together! Healthy Knox initiative. In the summer since our last update progress has been steady and promising:
- Information from 2009’s interviews and surveys has been analyzed to find out what residents think about Knox County’s health and quality of life, and the results can be found in the Community Themes & Strengths Assessment.
- A community-wide partnership meeting has yielded a Leadership Team of twenty dedicated and influential members. The Leadership Team has met monthly since May 2010. You can go here (link) to read about individual Team members.
- The Together! Healthy Knox Leadership Team has established work teams for two upcoming assessments this fall (see below), an Executive Team for quick decision-making, and a vision statement (link).
We have big plans for fall 2010 and beyond:
- The Forces of Change Assessment will be completed, looking ahead and identifying forces that could influence Knox County’s health and health service providers.
- The Local Public Health System Assessment will be completed, assessing the availability of resources in Knox County to solve community and personal health issues.
- In spring, the Leadership Team will use information from all four assessments to identify priority health issues and create a plan of action to address them.
Thank you again for your support of the Together! Healthy Knox initiative as it moves forward. Please check our website for updates.
All our voices matter.
*Together! Healthy Knox uses Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP), a model developed by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), for a planned approach to improve health and quality of life.
